A Brief Synopsis of the Parish Priest
V. Rev. Stavrofor Radomir Chkautovich

Fr. Chkautovich was born on December 27, 1935 in Travnici, Serbia.  He attended and graduated from the seminary in Prizren, in southern Serbia (Kosovo & Methohija) and was ordained a priest on November 16, 1954..  He served as a parish priest in many parishes in Serbia.  Because of problems with the Communist authorities in Yugoslavia, Fr. Chkautovich escaped to Greece in 1963, and emigrated to America on April 20, 1964.  He served as a priest in Chicago and Libertyville, Illinois, Lebanon, Pennsylvania, and Racine, Wisconsin.

On April 15, 1973 Fr. Chkautovich was assigned to the Holy Trinity Parish in St. Louis, where he serves to this day.
 Fr. Chkautovich was happily married for 53 years to Protinica Vera until her sudden death at the age of 80 on April 8, 2006.  Their holy union produced three children:

  • Veroljub, who lives in St. Louis, is married to Kathy, and has two children, a boy and girl; 
  • Mila, lives in California and has four children, two boys and two girls; and
  • Misha, Mila’s twin, lives in Columbia, Illinois, is married to Chris and has four sons.

In the United States, Fr. Chkautovich obtained a bachelor’s degree in education and pschology from Dominican College in Racine, Wisconsin. Fr.Chkautovich was also commissioned to serve as a U.S. Navy Chaplin in 1972 and is now retired as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy (S.C.C.).

Besides his extensive parish work in St. Louis, Fr. Chkautovich has helped organize the St. Nikolas School in Chicago and the St. Archangel Michael Parish in Hot Springs, Arkansas. 

Fr. Chkautovich lives near Columbia, Illinois, a suburb of St. Louis, and has an avocational interest in agriculture and gardening.  It is not unusual for his fruits and vegetables to win prizes in contests and fairs over the summer.
He continues to devote his time faithfully to the people of the Holy Trinity Parish.
